The Discover U College Tour is a transformative experience designed to expose high school students to a diverse range of colleges and universities, including HBCUs and PWIs, while offering a glimpse into campus life and future opportunities. Over the course of five days, students will visit a mix of large and small institutions across multiple states, engage with current students and staff, and explore academic and cultural highlights at each destination.

Along the way, students will enjoy exciting entertainment activities and cultural experiences that make this journey as fun as it is impactful. What is the Discover U College Tour?
The Discover U College Tour is a five-day journey designed to expose high school students to a diverse range of colleges and universities, including HBCUs and PWIs. Students will experience campus tours, cultural highlights, and entertainment activities, helping them explore their future academic and career opportunities.
Who can participate in the College Tour?
The tour is open to high school students in 9th-12th grade. Students must review and agree to the tour's rules and expectations alongside their parents/guardians.
What is the payment schedule?
The payment schedule is as follows:
- Friday, December 20, 2024: $400
- Friday, January 17, 2025: $300
- Friday, February 14, 2025: $300
- Monday, March 3, 2025: $300
Are there fundraising opportunities to help cover costs?
Yes! Students can create their own peer-to-peer fundraising pages to raise funds for their individual tour costs. 100% of what they raise will be deducted from their total cost. If they exceed their required payments, they can either request a reimbursement or donate the extra funds to support meals and entertainment for the group.
What expenses are included in the cost of the tour?
The tour cost covers:
- Transportation (buses and flights as applicable)
- Lodging
- Meals (except additional snacks or personal purchases)
- Campus tours and admission to activities and entertainment experiences
What schools will students visit on the tour?
Students will visit a mix of HBCUs and PWIs, featuring both large and small campuses. Schools on the 2025 tour include:
- University of Dayton (Dayton, OH)
- Ohio State University (Columbus, OH)
- Howard University (Washington, D.C.)
- Morgan State University (Baltimore, MD)
- Xavier University of Louisiana (New Orleans, LA)
- Tulane University (New Orleans, LA)
How will students be supervised during the tour?
Students will be supervised by You Matter 2 staff, who will ensure their safety and adherence to the tour's rules and guidelines. Staff members are experienced in working with youth and will prioritize a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Are there any requirements before attending the College Tour?
Yes, students will be required to participate in pre-college tour workshops. These workshops are designed to help students learn more about the colleges on the tour, the college application process, and to build bonds with their fellow participants through team-building activities. Dates for these workshops will be announced soon. Participation in these sessions is an essential part of preparing for this transformative experience!
